About this file
This document includes a ground resistance testing form template and details of a federal contract opportunity for construction services. The contract is for establishment of NAVAIDS facilities serving an extended runway at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. The opportunity involves providing all labor, materials, equipment, and construction services to complete the project in accordance with drawings, specifications and contract terms. The performance period is 605 calendar days with an anticipated start of November 15, 2020. The estimated price range for the procurement is between $5 million and $10 million. Offerors must meet minimum experience requirements and submit all required documents by the closing date of October 7, 2020, including past performance references, schedules, financial information, insurance documentation and subcontracting plans. The solicitation is being conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration Southwestern Region.

| NOTES: | ||
| 1. All areas to be filled in by the user are shaded in a light bluish gray. All other cells are locked and cannot be selected to protect the template. | ||
| 2. Each time you open this template and edit it, it will automatically save as a new, separate document. The template will retain its original condition for future use. | ||
| 3. It is recommended that you input the ground grid area in as a plot: A' x B' first. Then calculate the distance you want to position the current probe, C2. | ||
| To obtain at least 90% accuracy on the ground resistance, the distance you use for the current probe (C2) from the point of connection to the EES [labeled as the "C" Probe Spacing (C1, C2) on the form] is recommended to be either 3 times the longest diagonal in your plot (diagonal = the square root of (A2 + B2), or, if the plot is very large, then one to two times the distance of the longest side of your plot. This is taken from FAA-HDBK-011 Chapter 3.4.3. |
4. Perform the test and record your resistance measurements for each P2 position in the table on the left of the chart. The chart will automatically update and the template will calculate the theoretical earth ground resistance at a P2 position that is 62% from the EES connection for your plot and automatically fill this value in the cell labeled "Calculated Ground Resistence". This is the official results of your test.
5. Finally, you'll notice I already have values on the form. This is so you can see how the chart plots and calculates. Go ahead and punch in some new numbers and distances to test out the form. Use old data that you have to check the form's calculated outputs.
