Frequently Asked Questions
What is a small business set-aside?
A contract an agency reserves for small businesses, so only firms under the size standard for its NAICS code can bid. The notice states the set-aside type and the NAICS code.
Where are set-aside opportunities posted?
Federal notices are posted on SAM.gov, and state and local agencies post on their own procurement portals. GovTribe collects both: federal notices you can filter by set-aside type, and state and local bids you can filter by state and category.
Which set-aside programs are there?
The main federal ones are total and partial small business set-asides, the 8(a) Business Development program, HUBZone, service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) and women-owned small business (WOSB and EDWOSB).
