Federal acquisition regulations

FAR, DFARS and DFARS PGI, with each section's Federal Register history

  • Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)

The Federal Acquisition Regulation is the primary set of rules executive agencies follow to buy goods and services, codified in Title 48, Chapter 1 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

  • Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)

The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement adds the Department of Defense's rules to the FAR, in Title 48, Chapter 2 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Its solicitation provisions and contract clauses are in Part 252.

  • DFARS Procedures, Guidance, and Information (DFARS PGI)

DFARS Procedures, Guidance, and Information (PGI) is the Department of Defense's companion to the DFARS: internal procedures and guidance that aren't codified in the Code of Federal Regulations, numbered to match the DFARS sections they explain.

FAR overhaul

The Revolutionary FAR Overhaul is rewriting the FAR part by part. Track which parts are overhauled, which agencies have adopted them and the Federal Register rulemaking.
