About this file

This is a Product Requirements specification document prepared by Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. for the Alterations for Penn Township Municipal Building project in Pennsylvania. The specification establishes standards for all products incorporated into the Work, defining requirements for product selection, delivery, storage, and handling. Products must comply with specified requirements and reference standards, be new at time of installation, and be furnished by qualified manufacturers suitable for intended use. Where specifications name a single product and manufacturer, the contractor must provide that named product; where multiple manufacturers are listed, the contractor may select any compliant option. The document establishes a substitution process for alternate products demonstrating equal qualities related to type, function, dimension, in-service performance, physical properties, appearance, and other characteristics. Products must be transported and delivered in manufacturer's original sealed containers with complete labels and instructions, with delivery scheduled to minimize long-term on-site storage and prevent overcrowding of construction spaces.

The specification requires contractors to promptly inspect shipments for compliance with requirements, correct quantities, and product damage. Products must be stored and protected according to manufacturer's instructions with seals and labels intact and legible, with sensitive products stored in weathertight, climate-controlled enclosures. Exterior storage of fabricated products must be placed on sloped supports aboveground, and products subject to deterioration must be covered with impervious sheeting with ventilation to prevent condensation. Loose granular materials must be stored on solid flat surfaces in well-drained areas. The specification reserves the Engineer's right to limit product selection to those with warranties not in conflict with Contract Document requirements. Equipment electrical characteristics and components must comply with specifications detailed in individual Specification Sections.
