Memorandum
TO: HW687 Contract File FROM: Dean Cox, Contract Manager SUBJECT: DC004B – Sun State Supply (ERIC_5047) Groundwater Sampling
DATE: 5/1/2024
This task assignment (TA) authorizes costs for groundwater sampling (2 wells) and associated reporting, based on the Terracon proposal dated 4/3/2024. The total cost for this TA is $7,949.48. The TA was negotiated – the total cost is $3,825.75 or 35% less than proposed.
Only one well, MW5 offsite, had any contaminants above a GCTL (PCE=5.1 ug/L) in the last sampling event (2022). A second well, MW13 offsite, dropped below the GCTL in the last sampling event. So, these two wells are being sampled to acquire the data required for RMO I site closure. All other wells have been below GCTLs in multiple consecutive sampling events.
If both wells are below GCTLs in the first sampling event, the second event will occur approximately 90 days later. If any wells remain above GCTLs in the first event, the second event may not occur for up to two years, depending on technical judgement. The groundwater is currently being sampled biennially.
The MW5 PCE concentration was 5.4 ug/L in 2016, 8.07 ug/L in 2018, and back down to 5.1 ug/L in 2022. The plume is stable. If MW5 remains above the GCTL after one or two more sampling events, an RMO III closure path may be pursued.
