About this file
This is a technical specification document for aggregates and earthwork materials required for the Skytop Lodge Sewage Treatment Plant Improvements Project (Project Number 005153.0436) in Canadensis, Pennsylvania. The project involves the construction and installation of sewage treatment plant upgrades, including an influent screening system, equalization tank, chemical feed system, two clarifier tanks, a post aeration tank, and a UV disinfection system. Bids for Contract 2026-01 will be received and publicly opened on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM through PennBid. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for August 25, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Skytop Lodge STP facility located at Falls Road, Canadensis, PA 18325; attendance is encouraged but not required. Bidding documents are available for download from the designated PennBid website, which will be updated periodically with addenda and other relevant information.
The specification document details requirements for coarse and fine aggregate materials that must meet Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) standards and relevant AASHTO and ASTM International standards. Coarse aggregate options include PennDOT 2A, AASHTO No. 57, AASHTO No. 8, AASHTO No. 3, and select granular material conforming to PennDOT Publication 408. Fine aggregates must meet PennDOT standards for bituminous concrete sand types, mortar sand, and filler materials with specified sieve size gradations. All aggregate materials must originate from PennDOT-approved sources and be furnished from a single source throughout the project. Contractors must submit material samples, supplier information, and manufacturer's certificates demonstrating compliance with specifications. Bid security in the form of a certified check or bid bond is required in an amount not less than 10%.
