About this file
This is a technical specifications document (Section 05 50 00 - Metal Fabrications) prepared by Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. for the Skytop Lodge Sewage Treatment Plant Improvements Project (Contract 2026-01, Project Number 005153.0436) in Canadensis, Pennsylvania. The specification details requirements for shop-fabricated metal items including bollards, structural supports, and anchor bolts that will be integrated into the sewage treatment plant upgrade. The project scope encompasses installation of an Influent Screening System, Equalization Tank, Chemical Feed System, two Clarifier Tanks, a Post Aeration Tank, UV Disinfection System, and associated work. Bids will be received and publicly opened on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM through PennBid. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for August 25, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Skytop Lodge STP location in Falls Road, Canadensis, PA (coordinates 41°13'17.3"N 75°14'19.0"W), with attendance encouraged but not required.
The specification establishes technical standards for metal fabrications including materials, fabrication tolerances, finishes, and installation requirements. Bollards are specified as 6-inch diameter steel pipe with concrete fill (minimum 3,000 psi compressive strength) and prime paint finish. All stainless steel components must meet ASTM and AWS standards, with Type 316 stainless steel specified for bars, shapes, tubing, and pipe. Fabrication tolerances are tightly controlled with maximum squareness deviation of 1/8 inch and maximum bow of 1/8 inch in 48 inches. Installation requirements include plumb and level positioning with field welding performed according to AWS D1.1 standards. Bid security is required in the form of a Certified Check or Bid Bond in an amount not less than 10%. All bidder inquiries regarding the meaning or intent of bidding documents must be submitted through PennBid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.
