MARAD Ship Model Repair
Added: May 24, 2012 1:08 pm The United States Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD) is seeking the services of a contractor to conserve and repair part of its collection of ship models. These services shall include the provision of a condition report and conservation plan for each model covered within the Statement of Work and, in consultation with the MARAD historian, the actual conservation of the models themselves. There are currently 79 ship models within the scope of this contract displayed at or in storage at the MARAD headquarters. MARAD headquarters is located at 1200 New Jersey Ave, S.E., Washington, DC. The models are in a variety of conditions, ranging from excellent to poor. Several models date back to the 1940s. The contractor will, in consultation with the MARAD historian, be required to evaluate the condition of each model and determine the level and type of conservation required. The 79 ship models covered are listed, with a photograph, summary description, and categorical condition rating, as attachments to the solicitation. The General Services Administration's Public Buildings Service Region 9 is seeking bids for the reupholstery and reinstallation of 10 existing fabric-covered acoustic panels located on the north wall of a U.S. District Court courtroom. The solicitation requires the contractor to carefully dismantle the panels, reupholster them to match the existing fabric color and texture as closely as possible, and then reinstall the panels. The contractor must also remove and reinstall a thermostat, fire alarm strobe, and receptacle cover. The contract will be awarded based on price, and proposals are due by November 15, 2024. Interested contractors must attend a mandatory site walk on October 28, 2024 and submit questions by November 8, 2024, with the anticipated contract award date of December 2, 2024.
