About this file
This document is a Pile Driving Summary and associated Pile Driving Logs prepared by Geosciences Testing and Research, Inc. (GTR) for a NOAA OMAO project located in Newport, Rhode Island. The work was performed by Skanska as the contractor with J. Roth as the GTR representative, documented under Job No. 24.168 with a final drive date of September 6, 2024.
The summary documents the installation of NZ26 Sheet Piles (47 feet in length) for bulkhead construction using an ICE D-50 single-acting diesel hammer with a rated energy of 33.5 kips and 11,355 lbs ram weight. Nine piles (S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9, S24, S39, and S50) are recorded in the summary table with driven depths ranging from 28 to 62 feet, tip elevations from -30.25 feet, and working grades of 16.75 feet. The detailed driving logs for individual piles (S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9, S24, S39, and S50) record blow counts, depths, and final drive conditions, with most piles achieving tip elevation of -30.25 feet and cut-off elevation of 40.50 feet. Notes indicate that S50 encountered a refusal count at 62 feet depth and that S24 sheet was widened to 63.5 feet due to location issues. All elevations referenced are per NAVD88, and stroke measurements range from 9-11 feet across all driven piles.

Hit a Refusal Count at a depth of 39 ft with the ICE D-30. Got back on it with the ICE D-50 and successfully drove to minimum tip elevation.
This sheet was widened to 63.5 inches due to the location placement issue with BH23.
