About this file
This is an HVAC ductwork design and demolition plan prepared by the Division of Engineering within the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, Department for Facilities & Support Services, in collaboration with KLH Engineers, PSC for the Gateway Urban Campus project located at 438-440 Scott Street, Covington, Kentucky. The mechanical design drawing (HV1.1) details the installation of new HVAC ductwork, ceiling diffusers, exhaust grilles, and related components on the first floor of a classroom center facility that includes spaces designated for a dispensary, cosmetology salon, reception area, waiting area, manicure/pedicure area, and custodial functions. The plan specifies the complete furnishing, installation, and placement into operation of all systems shown on the drawings in accordance with all state and local codes and ordinances, with coordination requirements among trades for ceiling space utilization and roof-mounted equipment placement.
The design establishes specific technical requirements including the provision of volume dampers at all supply, return, and exhaust duct branch take-offs; turning vanes in 90-degree mitered elbows; flexible duct connections on inlet to each ceiling diffuser; and support systems using minimum 1-inch wide metal straps or saddles. Two air conditioning units (ACU-1-01 and ACU-1-02) serve the facility with various ductwork sizes and CFM capacities ranging from 30 to 250 CFM for different zones. The drawing includes both new work to be installed and existing HVAC ductwork and piping to be demolished, with existing floor registers designated to remain. All work must be performed with code-required and manufacturer-recommended minimum clearances for service, access, and fire protection.
