About this file
This is a plumbing demolition drawing prepared by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, Department for Facilities & Support Services, Division of Engineering, in coordination with the engineering firm Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers, PSC. The document pertains to the Gateway Urban Campus renovation project located at 438-440 Scott Street in Covington, Kentucky. The plumbing demolition scope covers the second and third floors of the facility and includes removal of gas piping (after meter), sanitary piping, water supply piping, lavatories, and water closets with their associated piping systems. The drawing, dated December 18, 2015, provides detailed keyed notes and floor plans identifying specific fixtures and systems designated for demolition, with sheet reference PD1.1 serving as the primary specification document for these plumbing removal activities.
The general plumbing demolition notes establish that the plumbing subcontractor must preserve all systems serving existing fixtures that are to remain, remove all piping to points beyond finished surfaces with proper capping, and reroute piping as necessary to accommodate remodeled areas. Where existing walls are removed, the contractor must reroute and reconnect any plumbing systems that must remain, including domestic water, gas, soil, waste, vent, and roof leader piping. All orphaned plumbing piping that no longer serves any purpose must be removed and capped off beyond the finish surface. The contractor is required to coordinate with the general contractor regarding relocation or future use of all removed plumbing fixtures. The drawing was approved for program concept only and is part of the larger Gateway Urban Campus development project.
