About this file
This is an HVAC ductwork design and demolition plan prepared by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, Department for Facilities & Support Services, Division of Engineering, in conjunction with KLH Engineers, PSC for the Gateway Urban Campus located at 438-440 Scott Street, Covington, Kentucky. The project involves the installation of new HVAC ductwork in the basement of a classroom center facility, along with the demolition of existing HVAC ductwork and piping. The mechanical plan (Sheet HV1.0) depicts new air handling units (ACU-B-01, ACU-B-02, and ACU-B-03) with varying capacities ranging from 187 CFM to 770 CFM, connected via supply, return, and exhaust ductwork to ceiling diffusers and exhaust grilles throughout the basement level. The scope of work requires complete furnishing, installation, and placement into operation of all systems shown on the drawings in accordance with all state and local codes and ordinances. The plan was approved for program concept on December 18, 2015, and prepared under KLH Project Number 11369.04.
The contractor must provide all labor, material, and equipment necessary for installation and coordinate work with other trades regarding ceiling space requirements and roof-mounted equipment placement. Key requirements include installation of volume dampers at all ductwork branch takeoffs, turning vanes in 90-degree mitered elbows (except in acoustic-lined return ducts), flexible duct connections to ceiling diffusers with proper support, and compliance with manufacturer-recommended clearances for service and access. Existing HVAC units must be turned over to Gateway in workable condition prior to demolition of all existing ductwork and piping. No pricing information, set-asides, funding sources, or contract terms are specified in this design document.
