About this file

This is a specification document for toilet compartments related to the West Pump Station Replacement Project being managed by Northwestern Chester County Municipal Authority in Pennsylvania. The specification details the requirements for metal toilet compartments to be installed as part of the project's general construction work (Contract WPS-1). The compartments must be baked enameled, floor-mounted, head rail braced units with sheet steel faces pressure-bonded to sound-deadening cores. Doors and panels must measure 32 inches wide by 58 inches high with a 1-inch thickness, while pilasters must be 1.25 inches thick. Acceptable manufacturers include All American Metal Corp., Bradley Corp., General Partitions Mfg., or equal alternatives. The specification requires submission of product data, shop drawings indicating partition plans and elevation views, manufacturer's instructions, and field quality-control results. A five-year manufacturer's warranty is required for powder-coat finishes, and contractors must provide one set of manufacturer-recommended spare parts and special maintenance tools upon completion.

Material requirements specify ASTM A653 steel sheet with G90 zinc coating for the compartment faces, with pilaster shoes formed from ASTM A666 Type 304 stainless steel. The finish must be powder-coated enamel applied in two coats following phosphatizing treatment, with color selection by the Owner. Hardware components including hinges, latches, brackets, and attachments must be chrome-plated or stainless steel, tamper-proof construction with self-closing pivot hinges and adjustable door positioning. Installation requirements mandate maximum spacing of 0.5 inches between panels and pilasters and 1 inch between panels and walls, with brackets securely attached to walls using appropriate anchoring devices. Field quality control procedures require review of any finish touch-ups with the Engineer prior to repair initiation, and all hardware must be adjusted to maintain uniform clearance not exceeding 1/8 inch at door edges.
