About this file
This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) document for cleaning, assessing, repairing, and preserving Plumbing Waste Drain Tank No. 2 on the USS RALPH JOHNSON (DDG-114). The work will be performed in the Vacuum Collection Holding Tank Room No. 2 (4-300-0-E).
The TGI details specific requirements including cleaning and assessing a 400-gallon tank, replacing two ZHC-23 zinc anodes (6" x 12" x 1-1/4"), installing four steel studs (1/2-13UNC x 1-1/4"), and preserving 111 square feet of interior tank surface including the manhole cover plate (15" x 18") and bolting ring. The work period is scheduled for July 14, 2025 through November 26, 2025. The document includes material requirements for corrosion prevention anodes, welding studs, self-locking nuts, and lock washers. Government-furnished services include crane operations, utilities, safety inspections, gas-free inspections, and QA inspections. The work requires completion of an assessment form and inspection report documenting the tank's structural integrity, coating condition, and any deficiencies found.
