About this file
This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for cleaning, assessing, repairing, and preserving Fuel Tank Group-2 on the USS RALPH JOHNSON (DDG-114). The document details work to be performed on multiple fuel tanks and related spaces, including Fuel Tank Group-2 (5-174-4-F) with a capacity of 21,208 gallons, as well as 10 other tanks with a total combined capacity of 150,248 gallons.
The work scope includes tank assessment for preservation coating, structural integrity, and deterioration; commercial blast cleaning to SSPC-SP-6 standards; installation of new zinc anodes and studs (128 ZEP type and 39 ZHC-23 type); repair of plate defects through base metal weld buildup; and final preservation coating. The work is to be performed between July 14, 2025, and December 11, 2025, at Yokosuka Naval Base. The TGI specifies Level III cleanliness requirements for piping systems/equipment and includes completion air testing at 2 PSIG with no allowable pressure drop. SRF-JRMC will provide various support services including crane operations, utilities, safety inspections, and QA inspections.
