About this file

This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) document for cleaning, assessing, and repairing the Main Reduction Gear (MRG) Lubricating Oil Sump Tank on the USS RALPH JOHNSON (DDG-114).

The work involves a 2,464 gallon lubricating oil sump tank (5-206-1-F) located in Engine Room No. One, including two 15x18 inch steel manhole cover plates and bolting rings. The contractor must perform tank assessment for coating preservation, structural integrity, deterioration, pitting, cracks, and damage, followed by repairs based on the assessment report. Specific work includes base metal weld buildup of plate defects up to 36 square inches at 1/4 inch thickness. The work requires Level II cleanliness for piping systems/equipment and physical security controls in accordance with naval technical manuals. The period of performance is July 14, 2025 to December 11, 2025. The work will be performed under job order 38K5212315 A01 with oversight from SRF-JRMC, who will provide crane services, utilities, safety inspections, and quality assurance support.
