About this file
This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) document for cleaning, assessing, repairing, and preserving Fuel Tank Group-1 on the USS RALPH JOHNSON (DDG-114). The work involves tank 5-42-0-F with a capacity of 13,623 gallons, along with associated manhole covers, air vent hose connections, and bolting rings. The scope includes surface preparation, commercial blast cleaning, visual inspection, weld repairs, and preservation coating for 3,905 square feet of interior tank surface.
The period of performance is from July 14, 2025 to December 11, 2025. The work will be performed across multiple locations including CPO Baggage Room, Crew Living Space, Sonar Cooling Equipment Room, Auxiliary Machinery Room, and Engine Room. SRF-JRMC will provide support services including crane operations, utilities, safety inspections, gas free inspections, and QA inspections. The document specifies Level III cleanliness requirements for piping systems/equipment and includes detailed procedures for assessment, repairs, and coating application. The TGI incorporates two changes: revision to paragraph 5.1.2 dated October 10, 2024, and revision to paragraph 5.11 dated December 19, 2024.
