About this file

This is a technical specification document for Section 15115 (Supports and Anchors) prepared by the West Branch Regional Authority for the Route 54 Sanitary Sewer Extension Project, Contract No. WB-1, located in Clinton Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The specification details the materials, products, and installation requirements for pipe hangers, supports, clamps, anchors, equipment bases, and related components for the sanitary sewer extension project. The document establishes acceptable manufacturers including P.H.D. Manufacturing, Michigan Hanger, Mason Industries, Elcen Metal Products Company, Anvil International, and Cooper B-Line, with provisions for substitutions subject to the Basic Requirements for Plumbing Work. Specific requirements are provided for various pipe support types, including adjustable steel swivel hangers, stainless-steel clevis hangers, pipe rolls with non-metallic rollers, wall supports, floor supports, vertical supports, and supplementary structural supports constructed from fiberglass or stainless steel. The specification establishes maximum spacing requirements for horizontal steel piping supports ranging from 7 feet for 1/2 to 1-1/4 inch pipes to 27 feet for 16-inch pipes, with vertical piping supported at every floor. Sealed bids for the overall project were due February 16, 2026, through the PennBid online portal.

All materials must conform to referenced standards including ANSI B31.1, NFPA 13 and 14, ASTM specifications for zinc coatings and steel, and MSS SP58 and SP69 standards for pipe hangers and supports. The specification requires that hangers and supports used in fire protection piping systems be listed and labeled by Underwriters Laboratories and that all hanger and support manufacturers' names, part numbers, and sizes be stamped on the parts for identification purposes. Outdoor and corrosive area finishes must be hot-dip galvanized in accordance with ASTM A123, with all hardware hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel; zinc-plated hardware is explicitly not acceptable for outdoor or corrosive applications. Shop drawings and product data must be submitted for all hanger and support devices including materials, finishes, approvals, load ratings, and dimensional information. The specification includes detailed requirements for expansion joints, flexible connections, vibration isolation and supports, swing joints, and concrete inserts for suspended hangers from reinforced concrete slabs and beams, with specific provisions for proper spacing, alignment, and anchoring to building structure.
