About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for inspecting a main condenser scoop injection check valve on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19). The specific task involves removing, inspecting, and reinstalling a 36-inch tilting disc check valve manufactured by Anchor Valve Co, with a unit weight of 1,627 lbs. The inspection procedures include mechanical cleaning, visual inspection of internal parts, performance checks involving 3 complete valve cycles, a hydrostatic test at 50-51 psig for 30 minutes, and a seat tightness test at 7.5-7.6 psig for 3 minutes.
The work is scheduled to be performed between July 21, 2026, and November 21, 2027, with the primary location being the ship's Engine Room (8-86-0-E) and potentially a contractor's facility. Special requirements include cleanliness for piping/equipment at System Level III, and potential asbestos and lead hazards. The Ship Repair Facility (SRF-JRMC) will provide supporting services including crane and rigging, utility services, safety inspections, and quality assurance inspections. The job order number is 3819P25606, with a key operation code of A01.
