Contract: CN330
Subtask 1 – Field Investigation Description:
Subtask 1A - Limited Boundary and Topographic Survey: Cummins Cederberg’s subconsultant will conduct a limited boundary survey for the entire 585 linear feet of bulkhead from the north boat ramp to the northeast corner of the marina, boat house, and docking areas to serve as the basis for subsequent design and regulatory permitting for the entire area. The locations and elevation of the existing shoreline, boat house, and docking facility elements will be surveyed along with other general features of the site pertinent to the Project. The survey is not intended as a full boundary survey but only specifically for the proposed bulkhead, boat house and docking. In addition, water depths fronting the shoreline will be collected to potentially overlap with the bathymetric survey and support engineering design. The survey data collected in the field will be reduced to the horizontal coordinate system and vertical datum established for the Project.
The limited boundary and topographic survey previously conducted under the John
Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park Dock Replacement and Boat Ramp Repairs Project by
Cummins Cederberg under Contract No. CN330, Task No. 03 will be utilized for the Project area that includes the north boat ramp.
Subtask 1B – Geotechnical Borings: Cummins Cederberg’s subconsultant will conduct three (3) Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) to a depth of around 40 feet below the ground surface adjacent to and landward of the existing 585 linear feet bulkhead within the area from the north boat ramp to the northeast corner of the marina. Sunshine One Call will be contacted for advice regarding the location of underground utilities. This will take approximately 10 business days to be cleared by Sunshine One Call. In addition, any available information regarding the location of underground utilities must be provided. Cummins Cederberg and its subconsultants cannot be held responsible for damage to below ground structures or utilities which are not identified to us. We specifically request any available information about the location of underground utilities for this Project. Based on the collected field data, an engineering analysis will be conducted and a report prepared with evaluations and discussions of the geotechnical aspects of the proposed Project. The report will include:
• Drawings showing boring locations, a graphic summary of the generalized subsurface conditions, and boring logs with detailed descriptions of the materials encountered;
• A discussion of generalized subsurface conditions at the site;
• Soil parameters such as saturated unit weights, passive/active coefficients, internal friction angles, wall friction angles; and
February 18, 2022 Page 4 of 11
• Driving criteria for concrete and timber piles, including vertical and lateral load resistance.
Subtask 1C – Bathymetric Survey: Cummins Cederberg will conduct bathymetric field surveying within the marina basin to provide data for the location, analysis, and design of the proposed waterfront structures. Approximate water depth information will be collected in the marina basin to support engineering design. The bathymetric data will be utilized to determine existing conditions of the basin. The data will be adjusted to Project datum and plotted on a basemap with one-foot interval contours; the mean high water elevation will be derived from a nearby tidal station. This scope of services includes equipment rental and expenses.
