REQUIREMENTS
RP I&C
EQUIPMENT
Section/Paragraph No.: BT.0140.000
Question:
The Subject SWLIN invokes NAVSEA 0989-0310-4000 for inspection and repair for all Reactor Plant Instrumentation and Control Equipment. This manual provides several levels of inspection requirements based on equipment’s Effective Time in Service (ETIS) and other criteria. Since both ships have received upgrades to Type II I &C, as well as other Field Changes, EB considers the ETIS category to be “SHORT”, requiring only Limited Internal Inspection defined as no disassembly, as required by G/I 21.4.2.
EB requests NAVSEA concurrence regarding the level of inspection identified above. This effects the following CPFF SWLINs:
848B01, 849B01, 847B01, 843B01
The Government concurs. With respect to G/I 21.4.1 of NAVSEA 0989-0310-4000, there are no instances based on NAVSEA08 knowledge of this equipment in which NAVSEA08 intends to direct a different specific category be utilized.
