About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for MaineDOT Fleet Services specifying equipment requirements for a fixed angle under-frame road scraper attachment designed for single and six-by-four axle plow trucks. The scraper must include a hydraulic reversing mechanism with right or left discharge capability (Wasau brand or approved equivalent), feature a 10-foot mold board length constructed of 3/4-inch corten steel approximately 13 inches high, and maintain a 9-foot cleared swath at approximately 35 degrees. The equipment must be tiltable with minimum 9-inch road clearance, include integral shock-absorbing safety trip devices, and incorporate hydraulic raising and lowering systems with relief valves set at 500 PSI. Operation must be possible from the vehicle cab through either electrical or manual controls compatible with existing plow, wing, and sander controls. Additional specifications include a carbide cutting edge with standard AASHTO punching, quick detachability for summer operation, and heavy-duty construction suitable for extreme service conditions. Each unit must be accompanied by one parts and repair manual and one operator's manual.

The scraper must be finished with two coats of rust-proof primer and a final coat of lead-free DuPont 3.5 Imron High Gloss Plow Yellow paint. All hydraulic cylinder rams must feature double nitride coating and be easily rebuildable. The mounting side plate must accommodate multiple height variations and include multiple holes to address truck lean and severely crowned road conditions. The vendor or installer is responsible for any vehicle modifications required to meet scraper manufacturer specifications and enable proper operation, subject to approval by both the vehicle manufacturer and MaineDOT Fleet Services. All components and controls must be compatible with equipment currently in use by MaineDOT Fleet Services, and installation must comply with manufacturer specifications.
