About this file
This specification document outlines the toolbox requirements for a state or local vehicle procurement, likely for a highway department or public works agency operating snow and ice removal equipment. The specification calls for a single toolbox unit constructed of 10 gauge mild steel with all-welded construction, measuring 18 inches high by 7-3/8 inches wide by 72 inches long in interior dimensions. The toolbox must feature a hinged door positioned on the driver's side and be installed adjacent to the hydraulic oil tank, extending lengthwise across the truck chassis. The unit must be removable to accommodate the installation of liquid spray tanks during winter operations and may function as a catwalk with a nonskid top surface provided it does not interfere with the front dump body's operational capabilities or dump angle requirements.
The toolbox must be finished with two coats of primer and at least one topcoat of 3.5 Imron High Gloss Plow Yellow paint. The unit shall be securely fastened to either the truck chassis or hydraulic tank frame using appropriate mounting methods. The specification document was prepared by an individual with initials APP/kad and dated December 14, 2011, indicating this is an established specification that may be used for ongoing vehicle purchases or retrofits by the procuring agency.
