About this file

This specification document pertains to a heavy-duty construction roll-off dump body with hook-lift sub-frame for the State of Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) Fleet Services. The item specifies a 15-yard capacity dump body measuring 15 feet in length with a California dimension of 130"-138" designed for extreme service conditions. The body shall feature unibody construction with AR400 steel longitudinals and bracing, a one-piece AR400 floor, a 54-inch high headwall, and a driver-controlled air-operated tailgate. Additional requirements include a folding ladder on the right side, grab handles, mud flaps, Grade 70 tailgate chains, continuous interior and exterior welding, and permanently attached body supports for servicing. The dump angle shall be approximately 50 degrees minimum to the rear, with all hydraulic systems and controls compatible with existing MaineDOT Fleet Services equipment.

The specification establishes stringent material and construction standards requiring AR400 steel components throughout the body structure, with steel surface preparation to SSPC #6 Commercial Blast specifications and a finish coat of Imron Aluminum over a two-part epoxy primer with 6-8 mils dry film thickness. The vendor is responsible for supplying and installing hardwood sideboards (8" x 2" minimum) painted black, all LED marker and clearance lights, and providing parts and repair manuals. The specification notes that MaineDOT will supply two stainless steel aerodynamic triple light housings and Whelen equipment components for installation by the body supplier using Deutsch waterproof connectors. All wiring must be protected by wire loom or conduit with soldered connections and heat shrink wrap, and all fastening hardware shall be of the highest quality material available.
