About this file
This is a specification document for a truck load cover item issued by MaineDOT (Maine Department of Transportation). The document outlines the technical requirements for truck load covers designed to protect asphalt loads during transport on MaineDOT vehicles. The cover must feature a roll-up mechanism with an aluminum windscreen, be compatible with existing MaineDOT systems, and accommodate vehicles of 54,000 pounds or larger, including provisions for hopper sanders and loads during winter operations. The cover shall be constructed of RFL-treated latex-coated woven polyester yarn fabric capable of withstanding temperatures of 350 degrees Fahrenheit and shall be equipped with a Donovan Bullet model #2858 electric direct drive motor or approved equivalent mounted to the truck body headboard with an integrated dash-mounted control switch.
The specification requires anodized aluminum arms of adjustable length that retract below the body sides, with extra spring tension to prevent cover displacement during vehicle operation. A three-year warranty on the electric motor is required. The manufacturer must correct any cover sailing issues occurring after installation and delivery to Fleet Services at no additional cost. The document does not specify pricing terms, quantities for procurement, response deadlines, or contract duration within the provided specification details.
