About this file
This is a specification document for a truck load cover item issued by MaineDOT (Maine Department of Transportation). The specification details the requirements for roll-up truck load covers designed to protect asphalt loads during transport on MaineDOT vehicles of 54,000 pounds or larger. The cover system must feature RFL (Resorcinol Formaldehyde Latex) treated latex-coated woven polyester yarn fabric capable of withstanding temperatures up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The cover shall include a roll-up mechanism with an aluminum windscreen, be compatible with existing MaineDOT load cover systems, and mount to the truck body headboard. The electric motor must be a Donovan Bullet model #2858 electric direct drive motor or approved equivalent, with a three-year warranty provided by the manufacturer.
The cover system must include adjustable-length anodized aluminum arms that retract flush with the truck body sides and incorporate extra spring tension to prevent cover movement during transit. A control switch integrated into the truck dashboard with clear labeling is required. The cover should accommodate both the load body and, in winter applications, a hopper sander and load. The specification mandates that if cover sailing or movement occurs after installation and delivery to Fleet Services, the manufacturer must correct the issue at no cost. No pricing information, contract term, award date, or response deadline is provided in this specification document.
