About this file
This is a specification document for a power reversing under-frame road scraper attachment issued by MaineDOT (Maine Department of Transportation) Fleet Services for installation on 6x4 plow trucks. The document outlines detailed technical requirements for a single hydraulic reversing scraper unit with a 10-foot moldboard length, 9-foot cleared swath at approximately 35 degrees, and a 13-inch high by 3/4-inch corten steel moldboard. The scraper must feature hydraulic raising and lowering capabilities, a shock-absorbing safety trip device, a hydraulic relief valve set at 500 PSI, and be operable from the truck cab either electrically or manually in compatibility with existing plow and wing controls. The unit must be quick-detachable for summer operation and include a 7/8-inch by 6-inch carbide cutting edge with standard AASHTO punching, with vendors required to provide one parts and repair manual and one operator's manual per unit.
The scraper must be manufactured to heavy-duty specifications suitable for extreme service conditions and finished with two coats of rust-proof primer followed by a finish coat of lead-free DuPont 3.5 Imron High Gloss Plow Yellow. All hydraulic cylinder rams must be double nitride coated and easily rebuildable, and the mounting side plate must accommodate multiple height variations to address truck lean and severely crowned road conditions. The vendor or installer is responsible for ensuring all installation modifications meet manufacturer specifications and receive approval from both the vehicle manufacturer and MaineDOT Fleet Services. All components and controls must be compatible with equipment currently in use by Fleet Services, and installation must proceed in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
