About this file

This is a specification document for a 5-7 yard stainless steel dump body with integral spreader and two-way functionality for Maine DOT. The document outlines detailed technical specifications for a single item (Item 2) consisting of a 10-foot stainless steel dump body designed for dual operation as both a conventional dump body and as a sand and chloride spreader. The body features a 7-foot inside width, approximately 24-inch sides, and a 5 cubic yard capacity fabricated entirely from grade 304 stainless steel with a 1/4-inch steel floor. Key components include a hydraulically operated cross conveyor system with a Superior gearbox and White hydraulic motor equipped with a 50-pulse sensor, a hydraulic spinner assembly with an 18-inch poly disk and 6 vanes for material dispersal, and a Class 60 NTEA-rated hoist system with rear capacity of 17 tons minimum and forward capacity of 14 tons minimum. The specification document includes comprehensive requirements for body construction details, conveyor specifications, spinner functionality, hoist and subframe design, and general assembly requirements.

The specification document does not address pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent information, contract duration, renewal options, funding sources, or bidding procedures. Rather, it provides detailed technical and construction requirements that potential vendors must meet to manufacture and deliver compliant equipment. The specifications emphasize full welded stainless steel construction, specific component manufacturers and models, greaseable pivot points, and safety features including mud flaps, grab handles, access ladders, and tailgate assemblies. Maine DOT will supply two steel aerodynamic double light housings to be welded to the rear posts, and hardwood sideboards must be supplied and installed by the vendor.
