About this file
This is a grading plan document for the Portland International Airport North Runway Rehabilitation project, prepared by HNTB Corporation and submitted by the Port of Portland, Oregon. The document provides detailed grading specifications for Runway 10L-28R, specifically covering station 241+00 to station 251+00. The plan includes finish paving contours at 1-foot and 0.2-foot intervals, finish grading contours, existing contours, paving limits, taxiway free object areas, and drainage infrastructure including catch basins, manholes, storm pipes, and underdrains. Key grading requirements specify that contractors must remove a minimum of 4 inches of soil between project grading limits and outer edges of existing paved sections, with additional removal directed by the Port to eliminate deeper roots or organic material. The top 2 inches of disturbed infield grading shall consist of topsoil meeting specification T-905, and finish grade includes a 1-1/2-inch pavement drop at the shoulder edge to infield grading. The plan was designed by Gene Tupper and prepared in October 2026, with professional engineer Garrett P. Stevens (Oregon PE 89696) certifying the document as of June 30, 2028.
The document serves as a technical reference sheet for construction contractors and project stakeholders, establishing the grading baseline for the runway rehabilitation work. The plan indicates coordination with additional alignment geometry and paving limits detailed in sheets C1.01 through C1.11, and cross-references Exhibit C for FAA plan improvements. The drawing was last digitally signed on October 6, 2026, and includes a key plan showing the location of the graded section within the overall runway configuration. No specific contract pricing, award dates, or bidding timelines are contained within this technical drawing document.
