About this file
This document is a technical specification sheet for storm drainage and underdrain details prepared for the Portland International Airport North Runway Rehabilitation project in Oregon. The sheet, dated October 2026 and designated as drawing number PDX 2026-501 C9.11, provides detailed construction specifications for utility locate procedures, underdrain cleanout installations, and related drainage infrastructure. Key specifications include 6-inch HDPE perforated and non-perforated underdrain pipes with 45-degree elbows and wye connections, controlled low strength material (CLSM) encasement requirements, utility locate wire installation within one foot of openings, and porous backfill with filter fabric applications. The cleanout cover assembly utilizes either a Neenah R-6014 frame with 14-inch diameter opening or an approved equal, stamped with "UNDERDRAIN" lettering and bolted to the frame. Installation requirements mandate that disturbed areas be seeded and topsoiled, that the cleanout assembly be installed after hot mix asphalt surface course construction through coring or sawcutting, and that concrete encasement extend to the bottom of the crushed aggregate base course.
The technical specifications establish contractor options for either square or round concrete underdrain cleanout casting pads with minimum diameter of 1 foot 6 inches, subject to engineer review and approval for round configurations. Stabilization of vertical cleanouts is required to prevent pipe damage or movement, and controlled low strength material must not contact perforated underdrain pipe sections. The design was prepared by Gene Tupper and H. Conradt, with drawings checked by C. Eiseler and N. Chowdhury. All specifications reference standard material grades including structural concrete (P-610), porous backfill (D-705), filter fabric, and fiber joint packing components. The document confirms compliance with Oregon Professional Engineer registration requirements and includes a note regarding optimal viewing settings for print and electronic display of the technical drawings at various shading levels.
