About this file
This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) detailing work requirements for replacing flight deck and hangar deck nonskid, and assessing/preserving the Recovery Assist Securing Traversing (RAST) trough on the USS HOWARD (DDG-83). The work covers multiple deck areas including the main deck weather frames between frames 399-475, Hangar No. 1, Hangar No. 2, Bathythermograph Room, and passage areas.
The work involves extensive assessment, repair and preservation activities including: removal and reinstallation of RAST track plates and trough components, replacement of 5 retractable chocks, repair of bolt holes, preservation of approximately 5,650 SF of deck plating, reapplication of Visual Landing Aid markings, and related potable water piping work. The period of performance is April 16, 2025 through November 7, 2025. The work is designated as cleanliness Level II & III and requires special fire zone boundary considerations. SRF-JRMC will provide various support services including crane operations, utilities, safety inspections, and quality assurance. The TGI includes detailed material lists specifying required plates, bars, beams, fasteners, adhesives, and insulation materials.
