About this file
This file is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for removing marine growth from the underwater hull of the USS HOWARD (DDG-83). The work involves cleaning various underwater hull components including 11 seachest trunks with strainer plates, 6 exterior surfaces of masker emitter belts, propeller shafts, stern tube fairwaters, strut fairwater assemblies, shaft strut barrels, rope guard assemblies, propeller blades and hubs, rudder components, sonar dome rubber window, and dielectric shields around ICCP system anodes.
The procedure requires high pressure fresh water jetting at >5,000 PSI for most components and low pressure jetting at <3,000 PSI for sensitive components like the sonar dome and ICCP anodes. The work must be performed between April 7-May 2, 2025 at dry dock. The contractor must provide man lifts, waste water treatment barge, and temporary scuppers/piping for collecting discharge water. Government furnished materials include rubber sheets, bolts, screws and washers. SRF-JRMC will provide crane services, utilities, and safety inspections. The work is planned under Job Order 38JC211001 with Key Operation A01.
