About this file
This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) detailing inspection, repair, and preservation work required for the Generator Room (3-370-0-E) aboard the USS HOWARD (DDG-83). The work includes inspecting and repairing bilge drain wells, strainer plates, valves, piping sections, zinc anodes, and floor plates in multiple spaces including the Generator Room, Cross Flooding Duct, Gas Turbine Waste Drain Collecting Tank, Fuel Tank Groups, Crew Living Spaces, and Fan Room.
The work requires specialized materials including CRES 316L strainer plates, zinc anodes, gaskets, couplings, and various piping components as detailed in the material list. Critical requirements include Level III cleanliness for piping systems/equipment and fabrication of non-flammable closure for fire zone boundary work. The contractor work period is scheduled from April 7, 2025 through July 29, 2025. The work involves ultrasonic thickness measurements, visual inspections, preservation of surfaces, and various repairs to bilge drain wells and associated components. Government-furnished materials and services include crane operations, utilities, safety inspections, and technical support.
