About this file
This document contains pre-proposal questions and answers for an upgrade to the Environmental Control System at Launch Complex 39B at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. NASA requires upgrading the ECS to support the crewed Space Launch System Artemis II mission, including replacing the existing cooling tower, relocating ductwork, heaters and instrumentation, adding new heaters and high pressure ducts, replacing filter housings and valves, revising gaseous nitrogen piping from aluminum to stainless steel, modifying controls systems hardware, installing new humidifiers, and related incidental work. Questions from potential offerors are answered, clarifying that comparable filter products from manufacturers 3B and Norman are acceptable in place of the declined bid from VACCO, and that stainless steel jacketing 0.016 inches thick is required for flange insulation on aluminum and stainless steel ducts in tunnels and above bulkhead plates.
