Solicitation Number: 36C26325R0017 Project Number: 636A6-23-101 Construct Steam Tunnel
Solicitation Questions/Clarifications
Q1: How deep is the foundation on east side of Building #10 going to north end? Can dirt be excavated to footings to limit the depth of excavation for shoring? If workable the two condensers could have approved wall brackets made to mount them if dirt can be lowered.
A: Refer to the as-builts of the 1973 expansion included with “Revision 1”. The difference in elevation at the corner of the building is roughly a 1:1 ratio. This only happens at the corner of the existing building.
See Image below. In a temporary scenario with only the corner of the building exposed, this condition should be acceptable without additional shoring requirements. When excavating keep to the 1:1 excavation requirements.
Q2: Can the tunnel be constructed using precast/designed sections?
A: No
Q3: Is there a location on VA property for spoils to be temporarily stored to be reused for backfilling?
A: See Sheet CP800.
Q4: West of Building #3, driveway and parking lot area, can this be 100% shut down during construction or is temporary access needing to be provided?
A: No. See Sheet CP800.
Q5: Can vaults be installed as precast and cast in place concrete formed and poured to them?
A: No
Q6: Are tunnel sections to be backfilled with clean rock or with removed spoils?
A: See revised Details 1, 3, and 4 on Revised Sheet C902 and refer to Specification Section 31 20 11.
Note that Details 1, 3, and 4 have been revised to add clay cap above granular fill, and surface restoration over the width of the excavation. Architectural Details 1, 2, and 5 on Sheet AE311, Details 1, 2, and 4 on Sheet AE313, and Details 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 on Sheet AE314, and Detail 2 on AE521 have also been revised to show granular material placed along sides and top of all tunnel cross sections.
Q7: Is there drain tile to be installed on exterior lower elevation and plumbed into a drainage system to maintain limited water issues within the finished project?
A: See Sheets C401-S-1, C401-N-1, C and Detail 1/Sheet C902
Q8: Building #3 has a condensate line at about 16" above floor, will it be removed or relocated to allow access for wall penetration?
A: See Sheet MP102 for relocation of the condensation line.
Q9: Basement in Building #3 appears to be shallow, is there a specified height to be maintained at this entrance?
A: See revised Sheet C601-N, and Sheets C201-N and C904 for inside vault height. See Detail 4/Sheet AE311 and Opening Schedule on Sheet AE602.
Q10: Can both sections of tunnel be constructed simultaneously or individually?
A: Yes. Both sections of the tunnel can be constructed Simultaneously.
Q11: Will tunnel be 100% covered in all locations or will there be exposed sections?
A: See drawing pages C201-S, C201-N, C501-S-1, C501-S-2, C501-N-1, C501-N-2, C501-N-3, CL701-S, CL701-N, Details 2 and 4 on Sheet C903, Q12: Is this project tax exempt and if so, will a certificate be issued?
A: See FAR 52.229-3, Federal, State and Local Taxes and the Special Note regarding FAR 52.229-3.
Q13: How will payment be handled for materials stored offsite or onsite prior to installation? Full payment? Partial payment? Proof required that the materials have been paid for? Assuming the government will not pay for uninstalled materials, should the contractors include the carrying costs for materials until they are installed (financing, storage, etc.)?
A: See FAR 52.232-5(f) and VAAR 852.232-70(d) Payments Under Fixed-Price Construction Contracts regarding stored materials. These clauses specify what is required to accept and/or pay for stored material, on or off site. Any material not meeting these requirements, will not be paid for, as the solicitation and resulting contract does not include contract financing procedures. The Government will not pay for storage for any materials unless specifically detailed in construction documents.
Q14: CQCM - Is the Contractor Quality Control Manager required to be onsite full time with no other duties?
A: The CQCM is not required to be onsite full time and is allowed to have other duties assigned;
however, it is the contractor’s responsibility to ensure that specifications and requirements are being met at all times, in addition to identify and prevent issues before they occur. There may be periods of high demand for quality control, and it is expected that the contractor will provide the qualified personnel as necessary. In addition, should quality control be lacking the VA may require the CQCM to be onsite more often or as needed for corrective measures.
Q15: CQCS - The individual Quality Control Specialists that are required for each trade and for Structural, Civil, and Environmental, etc., are to work directly for the Prime Contractor. Can they be part time employees?
A: The CQCS can be a part time employee of the Prime or as a subcontractor; however, they may not be a subcontractor that is performing work. It the contractor’s responsibility to ensure that specifications and requirements are being met at all times, in addition to identify and prevent issues before they occur. There may be periods of high demand for quality control, and it is expected that the contractor will provide the qualified personnel as necessary. In addition, should quality control be lacking the VA may require the CQCS to be onsite more often or as needed for corrective measures.
Q16: SSHO – Is the Site Safety and Health Officer required to be onsite full time with no other duties?
A: The SSHO is required to be onsite full time. This position can be filled in conjunction with the Site Superintendent as long as they meet the criteria for both roles set forth in the solicitation.
Q17: Sustainable Construction Requirements – This is very comprehensive and costly. Will the government consider scaling this back to fit the scope of the project?
A: As stated in Specification Section 01 81 13, Part 1 – 1.1.A., the Sustainable Construction Requirements are included to comply with federal mandates and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) policies.
Q18: Change order pricing – will change orders be approved with the standard 10% OH +10% profit?
A: See VAAR 852.243-70 for the allowable overhead and profit percentages for changes.
Q19: Would the architect be open to a substitution request/specification change to use a sheet applied, high solids cold-applied, or low solids cold-applied waterproofing instead of a hot applied waterproofing? Although it can be done, installing hot applied on this much vertical surface is very expensive.
A: Provide waterproofing per specification Section 07 12 00. No substitutions.
Q20: Do they want any under slab waterproofing below the tunnel floor?
A: Under slab waterproofing below the tunnel floor is not required.
Q21: Will the contractor be responsible for setting up, providing, and maintaining the electronic FTP file sharing system for the construction contract period of performance? See response to Q28 below.

A: Refer to revised Detail 4/Revised Sheet MP302 for an updated 50/50 PRV station with trip stop valves.
Also refer to the updated Schedules on Sheet MP501 for the updated trip stop valves, PRVs, and additional steam traps from the revised Detail 4 on Revised Sheet MP302.
Q23: What is the diameter of the Simpson Titen HD Anchors is shown on the pipe rack details?
A: See revised Detail 4 on Revised Sheet MP104.
Q24: Within the Statement of Work, both Plumbing and Fire Protection are identified as activities to be performed, however neither the project specifications nor plan set contain information for plumbing and fire protection activities. Please clarify that these references are limited to site services captured within the utility scope, and that it is not the expectation that a fire sprinkler system will be installed throughout the tunnel, and the scope is limited to fire extinguishers and wall ratings between the connect of the tunnel to Building 3.
A: No plumbing or fire protection is included in the mechanical scope. All piping is included in Division 23 and 33 Specifications. Fire protection is not required for the following reasons:
Q25: In the solicitation, on page 15 and 16 the solicitation directs us to include CPARs and/or PPQs for all relevant projects submitted in Factor 2. On page 18 where the contents of Volume II are listed, number 18 directs us to include CPARS evaluation reports or PPQs for relevant projects listed in Factor
2. Can the Government please verify that they want CPARs and/or PPQs included in both Volume 1, Factor 4 as well as Volume 2?
A: Ignore number 18, page 18 of Section 5. Proposal Content - Volume II. CPARS/PPQ’s should be submitted as part Section 5. Proposal Content – Volume I.
Q26: Due to the impacts of COVID on the construction industry over the past several years, would it be possible to extend the limit of past project from 5 to 7 or 10 years?
A: Under Technical Factor 2 – Company Experience of the solicitation, offerors are allowed to provide projects that have been completed within the last seven (7) years. All other requirements of this factor remain unchanged.
Q27: Per Section 01 00 00, Section 1.26; is it the Government’s intention to have an independent 3rd party vendor/subcontractor provide photographic indexing of this project?
A: GC is allowed to self-provide clear photos of project progression in the daily reports; however, in the event of quality, schedule, or other construction progression or quality related issues, the VA may request additional photos, including photos from a commercial photographer or a commercial photography subcontractor.
Q28: It does not appear to specify if Submittal Exchange will be required on this project. Is the VA intending to provide a project document management service, or will it be the contractor’s responsibility to provide? If the contractor is providing, will the program limited to Submittal Exchange, or will the contractor have the option to provide a program of similar function?
A: Submittal Exchange will be required for the project. However, the contract with Submittal Exchange has already been obtained by the Designer. Once a contractor is selected for the project, they will be given access Submittal Exchange. The contractor will be expected to submit RFI’s, Submittals, Record Drawings, etc. to Submittal Exchange in the same manner as if they held the contract with Submittal Exchange.
Q29: Specification section 01 35 26 requires the Prime Contractor to provide an SSHO for the project.
Please confirm that this individual is to be on site any time construction activities are occurring and will not be permitted to have any other duties.
A: The SSHO is required to be onsite full time. This position can be filled in conjunction with the Site Superintendent as long as they meet the criteria for both roles set forth in the solicitation.
Q30: Please confirm that the language in Section 01 45 00 Quality Control, permits the project superintendent to act as the CQC System Manager, and can the language contained in paragraph 3.4.B. be updated to include years of experience in lieu of limiting qualifications to education only?
We have seen on a number of other solicitations where years of experience in a similar field of construction is also accepted (this appears to be consistent with what is reflected in the solicitation;
however the specification is written differently).
A: The CQCM is not required to be onsite full time and is allowed to have other duties assigned;
however, it is the contractor’s responsibility to ensure that specifications and requirements are being met at all times, in addition to identify and prevent issues before they occur. There may be periods of high demand for quality control, and it is expected that the contractor will provide the qualified personnel as necessary. In addition, should quality control be lacking the VA may require the CQCM to be onsite more often or as needed for corrective measures.
Q31: Will the VA be issuing state of Iowa sales tax exempt forms on this project?
A: See FAR 52.229-3, Federal, State and Local Taxes and the Special Note regarding FAR 52.229-3.
Q32: Per the geotechnical report, if a high-water table is present and dewatering is required, where can the water be taken?
A: It is preferred that water be pumped into the nearest existing storm sewer system, provided conveyance tubes do not obstruct vehicular or pedestrian movements. If no existing storm sewer is nearby, discharge can be routed along the ground surface along the existing drainage pathway away from any buildings or walkways, as long as the outlet is controlled so as not to disturb the existing ground (rutting, washouts, etc.). In either case, the contractor shall provide a sock on the end of the conveyance tube and clean sock frequently to prevent sediment from being discharged into the storm sewer or onto the surface.
Q33: We acknowledge the existence of both private and public utilities as indicated on the construction documents. In the event these services create a condition where construction is not feasible, or differ from what is shown on the plans resulting in additional work for the contractor, how will these changes be addressed? In addition, if a franchise utility (i.e. Mid-American Energy) is required to be moved, will the Department of Veterans Affairs be the agency to engage the franchise utility service to modify their service locations? It would be difficult for the contractor to initiate this process, being the account is not registered in their name.
A: If VA utilities are discovered within the project area that are not mapped and utilities create a condition where construction is not feasible, or significantly differ from what is shown on the plans resulting in additional work for the contractor, the VA and the design team will review the situation and provide a proposed solution to the contractor. If the solution presents additional work for the contractor, the VA may negotiate additional payment for the additional work. If a franchise utility is required to be run above the proposed tunnel, it is anticipated that there will be enough slack in the lines where the contractor will be able to support in place during excavation, construct the tunnel below the utility, lay the existing utility above the tunnel, and backfill maintaining adequate cover over the existing utility. In a case where franchise utilities require replacement, all utility work including initial contact with the franchise utility will be the contractor’s responsibility, and shall be performed in accordance with Specification 01 00 00, Section 1.6. H, I, and M. The VA will provide assistance in coordination with franchise utilities on an as-needed, case-by-case basis.
Q34: In the event that utilities and services are encountered that are not identified on the construction documents, will the Department of Veterans Affairs address these services as differing/unforeseen conditions?
A: The contractor is required to provide their own utility locates. If the contractor’s utility locates results substantially differ from the drawings the VA may see this as a differing site condition. The contractor shall be responsible for utilities and services encountered after they have conducted their own utility locates.
Q35: Per Section 01 91 00, please confirm the Government has engaged a commissioning agent for the project, and if the commissioning agent will participate in submittal review and be available throughout project for periodic installation inspections, pre-functional checklists and functional performance testing. If this is the case, please advise who the commissioning agent will be for the project.
A: The VA is in the process of contracting a third-party commissioning service for this project. Duties performed are expected to follow Specification 01 91 00.
Q36: It does not appear that section 07 08 00 Facility Exterior Closure Commissioning is an item identified on the commissioning schedule. Is it the intent for this section to be included as part of this project?
A: Section 07 08 00 Can be deleted from the specifications.
Q37: Is the volume of product known that will need to be pumped/stored per General Note 2 on Sheet CD101-N? If so, please advise for proper sizing of materials, equipment, etc.
A: Ex. 8” VCP @ 1.67% has a full-flow capacity of 2.1 CFS. Ex. 8” VCP @ 0.79% has a full-flow capacity of
1.4 CFS. It is unknown how full either of the pipes actually flow, but it is not likely that either is flowing at full-flow capacity. The volume of sanitary sewer that is required to be stored is also dependent upon the rate that it is pumped.
Q38: Is it possible to provide invert elevations, directional information, etc. for all the structures on C201-N?
A: See revised sheet C201-N.
Q39: Due to the proximity of the South Tunnel Excavation, is there an as-built of Building 10 available for review?
A: As Builts for Building 10 Original 1932 Construction (of the southerly east-west oriented portion of the building), and for the expansion of Building 10 Addition 1973 (the north-south oriented portion of the building that is immediately west of the south end of the tunnel) are both provided in the “Revision 1” documents.
Q40: Will other waterproofing materials be accepted in lieu of hot applied? Bentonite, cold applied?
A: Provide waterproofing per specification Section 07 12 00. No substitutions.
Q41: There are a couple of notes in the detail below that appear to be misrepresented. Please confirm the locations of the fluid applied waterproofing all side of concrete shafts and reinforced concrete lid.
A: Note for FLUID APPLIED WATERPROOFING ALL SIDES OF CONCRETE SHAFT(S) (TYP) has been removed from Detail 2/Sheet AE314. See revised Detail 2 on Revised Sheet AE314.
Q42: Due to the magnitude and complexity of the solicitation, and the quick turn between responses to questions, would it be possible to extend the bid date to be a minimum of 14 days after the Q&A is posted to sam.gov?
A: An extension has been provided per Amendment 0001.
Q43: Lintel L3 is referenced on 1/S201, is not listed on the lintel schedule found on S001.
A: See revised Lintel Schedule on Revised Sheet S001
Q44: Detail 8/S301 does not appear to be called out on any of the structural drawings. Please provide additional information regarding this detail.
A: See the revised Lintel Schedule on Revised Sheet S001. The revised Lintel Schedule references Detail 8/Sheet S301 for L3.
Q45: Sheet CD101-N by note for Building 3 states to remove abandoned concrete Electrical & Communication Duct Bank. Sheet C201-N calls for an existing communication cable beyond reroute. Additional details are found on detail 1 / C501-N-1 and division 27 specification sections.
a. What is met by this note? A: The intent of the note is to expose each end of the communication duct bank with (3) 4” conduits at the limits of construction (approximately 40’) while maintaining service at all times. Once the duct bank and associated conduits have been exposed, utilize existing slack in the manholes to relocate the lines to allow for the tunnel construction. There are also street lighting cables in one conduit that will need to be relocated or re-run to serve existing and relocated street lights. See revised Sheet CD101-N for updated note.
b. Is a new ductbank to be built? If so, provide details. i.e. concrete, size and number of conduits. A: Yes. See Detail 4/Revised Sheet E501 for communications lines and Detail 5/ Revised Sheet E501 for lighting conduits.
c. Do any wires need to be repulled? If so, provide the following: A: The intent is not to repull communications lines.
i. What kind of wires / fiber. A: there are multi-mode and single-mode fiber lines in the existing conduit.
ii. What is the quantity and length? A: See Sheets CD101-N, C201-N, C501-N, E103, and E104 for best information available.
iii. Can they be field spliced or do they need to be a home run? A: Communications lines must maintain service at all times. Parking lot lighting cables can be interrupted with prior approval from COR in accordance with Specification 01 00 00, 1.6. We have added Specification Sections 27 13 23-13i and 27 13 23i, in case splicing is required, but this will only be permitted in special circumstances.
iv. If they need to be a home run, where do they go, how long is the run? A: The intent is for them to remain in service. The duct bank will be exposed and relocated in the limits of construction – approximately 40-ft in length.
v. Are there any phone lines Cat 5e or similar? A: There does not appear to be category cabling or phone lines.
d. Is grounding required? – provide specification requirements. A: Communication conduits will not require grounding. New lighting circuit will require an equipment grounding.
e. Provide a clearly defined scope if Div 27 applies. A: Div 27 Specs are provided for all work on communications lines, but communications lines are not intended to be repulled.
Communications lines will be temporarily suspended communications lines over open trenches during tunnel construction, protecting in place, and properly burying existing communications lines above tunnel after tunnel construction is complete, but prior to surface restoration.
Q46: To complete this project in the POP multiple phases will need to be completed at the same time. Can more than one area of each phase be started at the same time? Additionally, the underground piping is sloped and will need to tie into the different phases.
A: Both sections of the tunnel can be constructed Simultaneously.
Q47: Provided a light pole foundation detail for reinstalled light poles. This information is needed for pricing.
A: See Detail 3/Revised Sheet E501.
Q48: Sheet S201, KN1 includes a ladder. KN2 does not list a ladder, but the detail in the KN shows a ladder. Confirm a ladder is only required for KN1.
A: The exit at Vault #2 requires a ladder. Please see the revised Sheet S201 and revised S203, and see Details 1 and 2/Sheet AE101-SB.
Q49: Sheet S201, KN 3 – does any structural reinforcing need to be installed prior to cutting the lid opening. If required provide a detail and how thick the existing slab is.
A: The construction sequence would be to cut one side of the opening, place the angle, then cut the opposite side of the opening, and place the angle lintel. Then, the concrete wall section can be removed.
Q50: Sheet S201, KN3, provide the size if the vault lid and what type since this is not a CIP hatch.
A: See Detail 1/Sheet AE101-SA, Detail 1/Revised Sheet AE101-SB, Detail 2/Revised Sheet AE101-SB, Detail 2/Sheet AE102-NA, and Details 1 and 2/Sheet AE102-NB for hatch sizes.
Q51: Provide survey information for curb and gutter being removed for the north steam tunnel areas.
A: Proposed curb and gutter replacement to match existing elevations. See Sheet CL701-N for curb elevations.
Q52: Detail 1 / C501-N-1 states to reconstruct a section of the retaining wall. What is the existing retaining wall made of?
A: Modular Block. See revised retaining wall label on Detail 1/Revised Sheet C501-N-1.
Q53: The Lintel Schedule on Sheet S001 and locations shown for L1 & L2. This detail is for CMU walls. Detail 8/S301 references a different lintel detail. Clarify what detail is to be used and in what locations.
A: See the revised Lintel Schedule on Revised Sheet S001. The Lintel Schedule references Detail 8/Sheet S301 for L3.
Q54: In the soils report section “Existing Fill” on page 7 it is the opinion of Terracon that at boring 10 that the existing soil is not acceptable for bearing and should be over excavated or a proprietary ground improvement systems should be installed. The depth of the unsuitable soil goes to a depth of 27’ and is approx. at vault 5. The excavation depth at this location is ~ 13’. The only detail is to over excavate 1’ and install lime stone. For Boring 10 provide a detail for the proprietary ground improvement system and the extent along the trench both directions it should be installed (from boring 9 to boring 11).
A: See the second paragraph under “Existing Fill” on Page 7 of the Geotech Report, this area had deeper fill than the rest of the project. We recommended consideration be given to 2 solutions, as described in the second paragraph of that section, a ½ tunnel width overexcavation and backfill with granular structural fill, or ground improvement. If ground improvement is utilized, the lateral extent would be a question for the ground improvement designer.
Q55: Is there existing landscaping irrigation system?
A: No.
Q56: Site Restoration Plans CL701-N and CL701-S shows both sod and seed as the method of site restoration is different areas. Are areas to be restored following the notes or is one method to be used?
A: Sod is required. See revised note on Revised Sheet CL701-N that removed “Seed” and replaced with “Sod”.
Q57: Site Restoration Plans CL701-N and CL701-S show only sod and seed as for site restoration.
If other plants / landscaping is required provide landscaping drawings showing locations and quantities of what is to be installed.
A: No other plants/landscaping beyond what is show in the drawings will be required.
Q58:The typical tunnel cross section details 1 & 3 on C902 show open trench excavation sloping back the walls. These details show the walls laid back less than 20 deg. OSHA requires a 1 to 1 slope (45 deg) for type B soil and 1.5 to 1 for Type C soil. Confirm with all the existing utilities that the design is to open excavate and lay back the walls.
A: See revised Sheet C902.
Q59: Sheet HA101-11 shows a section of existing steam tunnel to have lead paint. Specifications 02 83 33.13 lists lead removal in Room 24 of Building 3. The drawing shows Building 11.
Clarify the location and quantity of lead paint that is to be removed.
A: There is no lead paint removal in Building 3. Specification 02 83 33.13 has been revised to eliminate the reference to Building 3. The location of the lead paint removal is at the entrance to the tunnel in Building 11 in sufficient quantity for a door to be installed into the adjacent tunnel to the east.
Approximately 50 SF of lead paint will need to be removed.
Q60: Specification 32 90 00 lists 4 kinds of Turf for cool regions and 5 for warm regions. Provide the type of turf that should be used for restoration.
A: See revised Specification 32 90 00, 2.3 Turf Selections.
Q61: Who is to provide the Fire Extinguishers shown on sheet GI101-N and GI101-S? There aren’t any other references shown in the drawings or specifications.
A: VA will supply Fire Extinguishers. GC to install.
Q62: The existing steam tunnel is labeled as Confined Space – Enter by Permit Only. Why is this a confined space? What are the requirements to enter this tunnel?
A: The existing steam tunnel is labeled as Confined Space due to heat. The GC will need to follow confined space regulations and address it in their Safety Plan and any AHA’s (Activity Hazard Analysis).
Q63: There is no specification for Controls. Provide if required.
A: Specification Section 23 09 23 has been added to the project specifications.
Q64: The sequence of operations for the exhaust fan shows EF 1 & EF 2 to be interlocked to run when AHU 1 is operating.
- There are (2) EF-1’s and (3) EF-2’s. Which exhaust fans are to be connected to AHU-1?
- What commands the other two fans to run?
- The set point is to maintain airflow setpoint CFM for exhaust from the building. The fans do not have a VFD and are direct drive. How are the exhaust fans to be balanced?
A: Sequence of operation on detail 1 drawing sheet MV402 shall be updated to: Exhaust fan shall be controlled by a contractor furnished and installed thermostat with manual override option. A thermostat shall be installed for each exhaust fan located in each respective vault.
Q65: The sequence of operations for the exhaust fans (MV402) has a two position damper.
Details 5 & 6 on MP302 do not show a two position damper on the exhaust ductwork.
Where is this damper to be installed?
A: No 2-position damper shall be required. See revised Detail 1/Revised Sheet 402. A gravity back draft damper shall be provided with an exhaust fan. See revised Exhaust Fan Schedule.
Q66: Detail 4 on MP302 includes control valves. There is not a sequence of operations for this detail. Please provide.
A: See revised Detail 4/Revised Sheet MP302. No sequence of operations is required because the control of the PRVs is via a mechanically operated pilot valve.
Q67: Provide details how the perimeter drain system is to be built. Specification 33 46 13 - 2.8 Soil Materials state to fill 1 foot above the pipe. This is similar to the architectural detail 1 on AE520, but states to reference the Civil drawings. The section cut on details on sheet C902 show the granular fill to the top of the grade. Perimeter drain is typically drainage rock with a geofabric returned back to the building.
A: Granular Fill (crushed stone, ¾ inch (20 mm) to No. 4 per ASTM D448) shall be placed above the perimeter drain system along the sides of the tunnel walls and across the top of the tunnel. Specification 33 46 13, 2.8 has been revised to eliminate the dimension of 1-foot above the pipe. Civil Details 1, 3, and 4 on Revised Sheet C902 have been revised to add a clay cap above the granular fill/below the surface restoration. Architectural Details have also been revised to show the correct limits of the Granular Fill.
Q68: Specification section 33 46 13 – 3.6 Perimeter Drain Cleanout Installation - states that cleanouts are to be installed at every change in direction. The civil drawings provide cleanout locations that differ from the specifications. Confirm if cleanout locations are to be installed as shown in the drawings or if they are to be installed at every change in direction as listed in the specifications?
A: Cleanouts are to be installed per the drawings. Specification 33 46 13, 3.6 has been revised to remove reference to cleanouts at every change in direction. Cleanouts have been added to Revised Sheets C401-S-1, C401-S-2, C401-N-1, C401-N-2, 501-S-1, C501-S-2, C501-N-1, C501-N-2, and C501-N-3 to show cleanouts approximately every 100-ft, or where total angle of bends exceeds 180-degrees between cleanouts. 90-degree bends have been replaced by (2) 45-degree bends.
Q69: Confirm that 2 separate people from the General Contractor are required to be on site. They are Superintendent and SSHO.
