SECTION 07 42 13 – INSULATED METAL WALL PANELS

This is a specification section for insulated metal wall panels required for the Renovate Building 204 Cath Lab II project (Project #621-22-121). The specification establishes detailed requirements for foamed-insulation-core concealed fastener metal wall panels with related metal trim and accessories.

The specified product is the Metl-Span CF Mesa panel system as the basis of design, manufactured by Metl-Span, a Nucor company (Lewisville, Texas; 844.574.5367; metlspan.com), or comparable approved products. Exterior face sheets shall be 22 gauge G-90 galvanized or AZ-50 aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel with a Mesa micro-corrugated profile (4 inches on center by 1/8 inch deep), stucco embossed texture, and two-coat fluoropolymer (PVDF) finish in Dark Gray Metallic. Interior face sheets shall be 26 gauge G-90 galvanized or AZ-50 aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel with Light Mesa profile, stucco embossed texture, and standard USDA-compliant polyester finish in Igloo White. Panel width is 42 inches standard with thickness as indicated on drawings to achieve required insulation values. The polyurethane core must be closed-cell with minimum 90 percent closed-cell content per ASTM D 6226, minimum 2.0 pcf density per ASTM D 1622, and minimum 20 psi compressive strength per ASTM D 1621. Performance requirements include compliance with FM 4881 exterior wall system standards, air infiltration less than 0.01 cfm/sq. ft. at 6.24 psf (ASTM E 283), and water penetration resistance to 20.0 psf (ASTM E 331). The manufacturer must be approved under an accredited third-party quality control program with minimum ten years' experience, and the installer must be certified by the panel manufacturer with minimum five years' experience. Warranties include a two-year manufacturer limited warranty on materials and workmanship from Substantial Completion, a two-year installer warranty against installation defects, and a manufacturer's limited warranty on the fluoropolymer finish against film failure, adhesion loss, cracking, peeling, and excessive chalking/fading per ASTM D 2244 and D 4214. Materials must comply with Buy American Act requirements (BAA-41 U.S.C §§ 10a–10d) and ARRA Section 1605 provisions. Installation shall follow manufacturer's written instructions and approved shop drawings, with field cutting performed using clean-cutting tools only and continuous non-skinning butyl sealant applied to panel side joints and base details.
