About this file
This document is an amendment to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the University of Wisconsin-Madison for an AUTOMATED PARKING GUIDANCE SYSTEM (RFP #2024-UWMSN-00719-RFP). The amendment contains questions and answers related to the project, including the ability to leverage existing power and data infrastructure, access to electrical and network rooms, and the availability of chase ways and risers for routing cabling. The contract opportunity is for the Dane County and Madison City jurisdictions in the state of Wisconsin.
The RFP seeks bids for the purchase and installation of an automated parking guidance system. Vendors are encouraged to submit their bids online through the University's procurement portal. While the amendment does not provide specific details on quantities, timelines, or contract terms, it addresses technical requirements and logistical considerations for the project implementation.

Amendment #5
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS TO RFP #2024-UWMSN-00719-RFP
Q1. Can we pull power from an electrical panel at the track/soccer field for the lot 60 entry near that location?
A1 If the panel has room and enough service to it, this could be a viable option, however it would be a more viable option to leverage the existing power and conduit running from the parking ramp/structure across the street in Lot 76. We will request a field study be conducted in the area to check for the nearest available power source so that we can present you with a few options for this project. Upon completion of the field study, we will upload the results as an attachment for everyone to view.
Q2. For Lot 75 - we envision placing the sign where the TAPCO box/Height detection cameras are. Will the University allow us to tap into the power/data that is at this box that TAPCO has? Or will we need to trench from the garage to that area?
A2. Yes, we can leverage the existing conduit to pull power and data from the height detection camera system.
Q3. Can we be provided locations of the IDF room or Electrical rooms? Similar to Lot 75.
A3. Yes, we will work on providing access to the power and network rooms at Lot 63. I do not have access to this now but will upload the drawings as an attachment as soon as I receive them from electrical / physical plant.
Q4. The University provided Telecom room locations, but can we also be shown where power is located? Will power be located at these telecom rooms as well? Is that safe to assume?
A4. Yes, power is running to both IDF and electrical rooms in the lots. The rooms are separate but there is power you can pull from in the Telecom rooms.
Q5. Are there any chase ways or risers that go from these telecom rooms to the upper levels?
A5. There are chase ways / risers at 75. There should be existing chase ways and risers at 63 but I need to confirm via drawings to let you know the exact locations. More to follow with the drawings.
Q6. Can we be sent riser or chase way drawings? We need to know if core drilling is needed.
A6. Vendors can leverage the existing chase ways that have space and are still in good condition. If utilizing one of the chase ways is not an option, vendors can and will need to core drill at each level but will need to include an x-ray survey prior to the drilling being approved.
Q7. Is there fiber running between Lot 75 and Lot 63?
A7. No, there is not. There is fiber running in 75 and 63 individually but nothing connecting the two lots together.
