Subtask 2: Geotechnical Investigation Description:
North Entrance Area: perform 18 cores/borings as follows:
North Entrance Road - 2 cores with 5-foot auger borings each lane = 4 cores/borings (staggered every 500 feet or fraction thereof) North Parking Lot - 5 Pavement Cores with 5-foot auger borings, 1-each corner area and 1-middle of lot.
North Loop Overflow Parking - 5 Pavement Cores with 5-foot auger borings, 1-each corner area and 1-middle of lot.
North Ranger Station – 2 Pavement cores with 5-foot auger borings in the center of the entrance and exit lane at the Ranger Station.
Failed Culvert – 2 Pavement Cores with 10-foot auger borings +/- 5-ft off the culvert in the center of each lane.
South Entrance Area: perform 33 cores/borings as follows:
South Entrance road - 4 cores with 5-foot auger borings each lane = 8 cores/borings (staggered every 500 feet or fraction thereof) East / West Parking Area- 5 Pavement Cores each Lot with 5-foot auger borings, 1-each corner area and 1-middle of each lot.
East and West Tram Road - 9 cores with 5-foot auger borings each lane = 18 cores/borings (staggered every 500 feet or fraction thereof) South Ranger Station – 2 Pavement cores with 5-foot auger borings in the center of the entrance and exit lane at the Ranger Station.
FINAL REPORT: will include pavement analysis design considerations based on pavement core and auger boring results, along with a photo essay in the appendix documenting the existing condition of these roadways, for use in supporting the remove and replace (R&R) or mill and overlay (M&O) conclusions we will be presenting. Some segments of these roadway alignments of study may be fine for M&O while some specific portions may warrant R&R. We will clearly denote each for you.
