About this file
This document is a Department of Defense Clothing and Textiles raw material specification for a nylon ripstop fabric (Fabric# AR-MTP-24-162) for the Army in 2024. The fabric is a 40-denier, woven nylon ripstop material with a lightweight 1.7 oz/yd² weight, available in two colors: Tan (499) and Coyote (476/498). The specification includes detailed technical requirements such as minimum break strength (115 lbs warp, 80 lbs fill), tear strength standards, water vapor transmission rate, air permeability, and dimensional stability specifications.
The material must undergo rigorous testing, including colorfastness, toxicity, and physical property assessments using ASTM and AATCC test methods. Packaging requirements specify continuous lengths of at least 50 yards per roll, with each roll labeled for fiber content and face side. The fabric is intended for government procurement, with a Distribution Statement A allowing unlimited public release. The specification is prepared by the Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center and follows strict quality control standards, with defect classifications and acceptance criteria detailed throughout the document.
