PART II
HOOD:
1) Cut pieces and check notches are cut (we recommend cutting all quilted piece parts together by layerning the liner face down on cutting table, followed by loft of insulation with scrim on top)
2) Create markings on cut pieces for all placement indication lines notated as per patterns (quilt stitch marks, component placement marks, etc.)
3) Prepare all quilted piece parts: (2) "front", (1) "back", (2) "sleeve", and (2) "front-pkt", stacking fabric layers as follows: (torso and sleeve) stitch with liner side face up/scrim side face down.
(Pocket) liner side face up/fleece side face down. Secure insulation/fleece along the tacking marks according to the pattern using 5-7 SPI (we recommend basting all raw edges of lining, insulation and scrim together for ease of construction).

PART III
HOOD continue:
4) Cut wire to length, fold in half, twist wire together uniformally leaving .25" at end to fold back for a smooth, rounded finished end (we recommend wrapping the folded with a strong, durable, low-profile tape or coating the end in wax to secure)
5) Feed (Type III, 5038, 1/4") through the open areas of the barrel lock and secure with a tack stitch. Add barrel locks to hood drawcord.
Preparation QUILTING INSULATION 1) Sew down under collar to collar fleece using the pattern according to the pattern. Sew collar together at top seam then edge stitch with seam allowance towards the under collar.
2) Quilting all the insulation to lining for the (1) hood, (2) front, (1) back, (2) sleeve; follow the designs in the pattern ***NOTE: Sew insulation on the bottom with lining on top. Baste with large stitches around the quilted pieces to keep it all together.
In Process Step HOOD - PART I 1) Sew hood stiffener: sew stiffener to lining following the stitch pattern according to the pattern.
2) Prep wire by folding in half, twisting, trim excess length, fold ends inward to avoid poking. Sew brim pieces together and finish corners. Flip brim right side out and top stitch 1/8" from edge on the 3 sides. Insert the wire to the brim edge. Sew close to the wire to create a channel but still avoiding sewing over the wire ***NOTE: Make sure to keep wire in place that it is even, it can tend to shift while sewing channel.
3) Sew hem of the face drawcord by folding over twice and top stitch. Add barrel lock keepers to the ends. Insert the cord fold channel in half, and baste the channel together.
4) Baste face drawcord channel into underside of brim.
9/5/2025 Page 23 of 43
In Process Step HOOD - PART II 5) Sew down hood grommet reinforcement in to bottom back hood piece. Set grommet through all layers, and sew the cord lock keeper directly above the grommet.
6) Top center back hood fold seam allowance to match marking and top stitch down. Then align the top and bottom center back hood pieces according to the markings on the pattern. Sew down to attach top and bottom center back pieces.
7) Join the side hood pieces onto the CB hood. Push seam allowance towards the center back and double needle top stitch
8) Join top of the side hood pieces together, which create a CF seam.
Seam allowance towards wearer's left and double needle top stitch.
9) Sew the newly created "fish eye" dart.
In Process Step HOOD - PART III 10) Sew the lining with insulation sides to the lining with insulation center back.
Then sew the top of the side hood pieces together at CF. Then sew "fisheye" dart.
11) Sew the reinforcement tape channel onto the lining with insulation according to the markings on the pattern. Set eyelet through all layer.
Baste the reinforcement tape channel on the brim side.
12) Sew horizontal drawcord hood channel onto the insulation/lining layer.
Tack down the drawcord at the end of the channels leaving 1/2" tail. Thread drawcord through grommet and into barrel lock.
13) Then sew the brim, shell, and lining all together in one seam. Then flip right side out.
14) Set snaps.
15) Set cord ends.
