RFI # RFI Response Date Received 72 Demolition drawings are saying to remove shingles and sheathing down to rafters at the canopy/drive through as well as the garage, but the structural drawings do not tell us what sheathing to put back on. Can we assume same as main building?

Sheath with 5/8” thick plywood per our “Sheathing Attachment Schedule.”

73 M-100 note #1 indicates to use Greenheck ABD automatic balancing dampers. See the attached cut sheet for these dampers.

It appears to me, this is the wrong type needed, as the ducts shown are mostly rectangular. Please advise on a more suitable model selection for rect. ductwork.

The automatic balancing dampers are only available in round configurations. Greenheck offers Model ABD-T, the same product with an adapter plate for square connections. Alternatively, transitions may be used to connect to the specified product.

6/16

74 Can 1” Armaflex be used on the chilled water pumps?

1.5” closed-cell elastomeric insulation is acceptable for chilled water pumps. Additionally, contractor may use factory fitted insulation shells for pumps, provided they are manufactured for the product they serve.

6/16

75 Can fiberglass be used on the condensate receivers, air separators, and heat exchangers?

(in place of Cal-Sil)

Rigid fiberglass insulation may be used in lieu of calcium silicate insulation on condensate receivers, air separators, and heat exchangers, provided equivalent thermal performance is maintained, the insulation is suitable for the operating temperature, and a clean, durable finished appearance is provided.

76 Drawing ES-101 calls for Square Straight Aluminum poles. Drawing ES-501 calls for Round Tapered “unknown (steel?/aluminum?) poles.

Pole as listed in the catalog number on sheets ES-101 is correct. 6/16

77 Reference Assembly SL1 and SL2; I see this as a twin assembly on the drawing ES-101, 2@90°, and not individual assemblies as noted in the Site Lighting Schedule.

Mount luminaries SL-1 (BA3) and SL-2 (B) to a single pole with 2@90 with luminaire head orientation as shown on plan.

6/16

78 Generac Generators are not in the list of acceptable generator manufacturer.

If all compliance is met can Generac be used?

If all compliance and sizing is met, Generac is permissible. 6/16

79 Fire Alarm spec. does not include Honeywell products. Are Honewell products allowed?

In the past GSA has specified NON- Proprietary systems.

Our spec. includes Honeywell (see page 10). If they are to provide Honeywell Gamewell FCI is also fine but no Silent Knight or FireLite.

6/16

80 Are we able to substitute a propane genset for diesel? 200kw are limited on who manufactures them.

No substitutions 6/16

81 In regard to type W6 walls (see A- 101); it depicts batt insulation in the assembly but does not itemize it.

However, the spec’s call out rigid on the exterior of the assembly (all other exterior walls do not have this), but I think mineral wool in the cavity would still be beneficial. I was planning to carry mineral wool here but wanted to verify this was the correct approach for this wall type before submitting my proposal.

High density mineral wool batts to be added to stud cavity. 6/16

82 072100 – 1.2 A. 4. Calls for Mineral Wool Blanket material, there is no specification for this material, only Rigid Board. Please provide a specification for the Mineral Wool Batts to be used in wall and roof interior cavities.

Section 072100 updated to include sections 2.4 and 2.5 6/16

83 The door schedule calls for 116 to be Aluminum, however the specification 083613 – 2.2 A. Calls for steel doors, please clarify if door is to be aluminum of steel

Sectional door shall be primed and painted steel for durability.

Door schedule has been updated accordingly.

6/16

84 083613 – 2.2, I, 2. Calls for powdercoat finish, I do not believe any of the Basis of design manufacturers have Powder coat finishes available on sectional doors, please clarify door finish and provide a basis of design

The four listed manufacturers offer powder coat finishes for sectional doors. Vision panels have been stricken from specifications.

6/16

85 083613 – 2.3, D. Calls for ¾” Glass, is ½” acceptable? ¾” is not available from Overhead Door which is one of the listed manufacturers.

Drawings do not show glass at overhead coil doors. Spec will be revised to remove note of glass on overhead coil doors

6/16

86 072100 – 1.2 A. 3. Calls for Glass Fiber insulation, yet there is no specification for this product, please provide specification and locations for this material.

Section 072100 updated to include sections 2.4 and 2.5 6/16

Section 072100 updated to include sections 2.4 and 2.5 6/16

88 On drawing E-100, if you look in the stairwell, there is a question mark for that fixture. I am assuming that it is another L-9AE (like the one that is in the stairwell on drawing E-110), but regardless, that fixture is not in the lighting fixture schedule. Can you clarify please.

Fixture type to be type L-9AE 6/16

89 Paragraph A in the specifications for Exterior Finish Carpentry (Section 062010-4) Subsection 2.4 (Exterior Tongue & Groove Soffits) indicates “Provide Red Cedar vented soffits.”

The drawings indicate fiber cement soffits at the building. Is the T&G cedar to be used at the canopy detail 14/A/302?

Please reuse existing T&G at car canopy. Vented soffits at covered ramp to be fiber cement per drawings.

6/23

90 Sheet Notes D14 on AD-110 and AD- 120 indicate to “remove and salvage for reinstallation all wood baseboard, wood window trim.” Architectural details throughout indicate to provide and install new baseboard and window casing to match historical.

Please clarify.

Intent is to re-install removed baseboard as much as possible.

Where it is not possible, new baseboard should be provided to match existing historic baseboard in character. Notes on architectural details have been revised accordingly.

6/23

91 Please clarify the scope of the siding and trim at the garage. The Demolition drawings read “demo and remove existing vinyl siding and aluminum trim on garage” (AD-100);

and the elevations read “remove paint on bottom 4'-0" of exist. wd siding, per 090110.15” (A-106) & “repair existing cladding (nail holes, etc.)” (A- 200); “replace clapboards as necessary” (A-200); “replacements to match existing in dimension and profile” “refinish exist. wd siding, ptd. typ.” (A-200); “repair exist.

Since this wood siding cannot

Yes, wood siding is currently installed underneath the vinyl siding. The vinyl siding is designated for removal per the demolition drawings. All repair and replacement work noted on A- 200 series is to occur on the existing wood siding. Please use unit cost figures for the repair of existing wood siding.
