About this file
This document is a contractor's approach table related to the Southwest 96-inch Water Transmission Pipeline Project for the City of Dallas, Texas. The file presents two tables outlining proposed tunneling methodologies and shaft configurations for nine identified tunnel segments along the project alignment. Table 2A details the contractor's approach per contract documents, specifying tunnel stationing locations, terminal and intermediate shaft specifications, initial support methods, and tunneling methods for segments ranging from station 2+40 to 141+59. Most segments are marked as "NOT ALLOWABLE," while segments 5 and 8 identify steel casing with open or closed face pipe jacking as the proposed tunneling method. Table 2B presents alternate proposals for the same nine tunnel segments, with most entries similarly marked as "NOT ALLOWABLE" and segments 5 and 8 again specifying steel casing open or closed face pipe jacking methodology.
The project encompasses installation of approximately 14,300 linear feet of 96-inch steel water pipe, 570 linear feet of 78-inch steel water pipe, and 30 linear feet of 54-inch prestressed concrete cylinder water pipe using a combination of open cut and tunneling methods. The project also includes cathodic protection systems, electrical and instrumentation components for valve controls, and site and paving restoration. Project Manager Tracey Long, PE, manages the initiative. Plans, specifications, and bid proposal spreadsheets were made available on the Bonfire platform at https://dallascityhall.bonfirehub.com/ on Friday, March 13, 2026, prior to 4:00 p.m.
