About this opportunity
The City of Milpitas is seeking a qualified contractor through an Invitation for Bid (Bid No. 25-1038) to provide comprehensive scoreboard replacement services across three municipal locations: Dixon Landing Park, Milpitas Sports Center, and Cardoza Park. The project involves complete demolition and removal of seven existing scoreboards, including electrical disconnects, supporting structures, and footings, followed by installation of seven new Daktronics scoreboards (including BA-2014 and BA-624 models) that will be purchased and provided by the city. Contractors must possess C-45 and C-10 licensing classifications and are required to perform at least 50% of the work directly, with the option to subcontract up to 50%. A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for May 22, 2025, at 10:00 am, with electronic bids due by June 17, 2025, at 12:00 pm Pacific Time. The project has a 75-calendar-day completion timeline from the Notice to Proceed, with specific work restrictions at certain locations and requirements for electrical connections, ground rod installations, and coordination with Daktronics for final commissioning and testing.
The procurement allows for a local purchasing preference for bidders, with potential advantage given to businesses within 10% of the lowest bid. Contractors must submit various certifications, including non-collusion declarations, proof of insurance, and local purchasing preference certificates. Performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract value are required, and all work is subject to prevailing wage requirements. While no specific incumbent vendors are mentioned, the project emphasizes local business participation and compliance with municipal regulations. Although a precise budget is not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the project involving seven scoreboards, extensive demolition, and installation services across multiple locations suggests a significant municipal infrastructure investment. Bidders must maintain an active registration with the California Secretary of State and comply with the City of Milpitas' business license requirements, with the contract representing a firm offer that cannot be withdrawn for 90 days after the bid opening date.
