About this file
This electrical plan document, prepared for the City of Milpitas, provides detailed specifications for scoreboard replacement and electrical installation work across three municipal park locations: Dixon Landing Park, Milpitas Sports Center, and Cardoza Park. The project encompasses installation of new Daktronics scoreboards (BA-624 and BA-2014 models) at seven total locations, with each installation requiring new electrical disconnects, conduit and liquid-tight connections, and ground rods. Specific work includes installation of Dak Score/MX-1 interface boxes at electrical panels located at each facility and, at Cardoza Park, installation of a new Christy box requiring approximately five feet of trenching. The project timeline extends 75 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with a mandatory pre-bid conference scheduled for May 22, 2025, at 10:00 am and electronic bids due by June 17, 2025, at 12:00 pm Pacific Time. The City will provide all seven scoreboards and necessary building permits to the selected contractor.
The electrical specifications require compliance with California Electrical Code (CEC) standards, including conductor sizing per CEC Table 310.16 with wet service listing and conduit sizing per CEC Chapter 9 Tables 4 and 5. All new electrical disconnects must be NEMA 3R rated (outdoor/rainproof) and sized appropriately for scoreboard electrical loads. Load determinations must account for wind load cases B and C from ASCE 7-16 Figure 29.3-1, with Case C specifically required for the larger 20'-0" W x 8'-6" H BA-2014 scoreboards at Milpitas Sports Center and Cardoza Park. The work allows reuse of existing overcurrent protection, conduits, and conductors from panels to new disconnects. Contractors must hold C-45 and C-10 licensing classifications, perform at least 50% of work directly with up to 50% subcontracting permitted, maintain California Secretary of State registration, and comply with prevailing wage requirements. Performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of contract value are required, along with proof of insurance and non-collusion declarations.

Notes:
1. New scoreboards electrical loads are equal to or less than those of the existing boards being removed.
2. Over current protection, conduits and conductors from the panel to the new disconnects are existing to be re-used.
3. New disconnect shall be NEMA 3R (outdoor/rainproof) and shall be sized no smaller than the electrical load of the scoreboard.
4. Conductors shall be sized per CEC Table 310.16 and shall be listed for wet service.
5. Conduits shall be sized per CEC Chapter 9 Tables 4 & 5.
6. The load determination shall also consider Case B and Case C from ASCE 7-16 Figure 29.3-1. Case B required for all scoreboards, and Case C required for the 20’-0” W x 8’-6” H scoreboard (BA-2014).
