About this file
This is an electrical plan exhibit document for the City of Milpitas' Scoreboard Replacement Project, specifically detailing the electrical infrastructure requirements for the Milpitas Sports Center scoreboard installations. The project encompasses the installation of three new scoreboards at the Sports Center: one senior scoreboard (BA2014 model, dimensions 20'-0" W x 8'-6" H) on the west side and two additional scoreboards (BA624 models) designated as major (west side) and minor (east side) units. Each scoreboard installation requires a new NEMA 3R outdoor/rainproof electrical disconnect, new conduit and liquid-tight connections from the disconnect to the scoreboard, and a new ground rod. The electrical work must comply with California Electrical Code (CEC) standards, including conductor sizing per CEC Table 310.16 for wet service applications and conduit sizing per CEC Chapter 9 Tables 4 and 5. Load calculations must account for wind load cases B and C from ASCE 7-16 Figure 29.3-1, with Case C specifically required for the larger BA2014 scoreboard. The Sports Center's electrical panel is located between the football field and snack shack, and existing over-current protection, conduits, and conductors will be reused where the new scoreboard electrical loads are equal to or less than the existing boards being removed.
The electrical plan specifies that the Dak Score/MX-1 interface box must be installed in the existing equipment cage with connections to existing power infrastructure. New scoreboards' electrical loads must not exceed those of the existing boards being removed, ensuring compatibility with the existing electrical infrastructure. All conductor sizing and conduit installation must strictly adhere to California Electrical Code standards for wet service environments, and disconnects must be appropriately sized to handle the specific electrical load of each scoreboard model. Ground rod installations are required for each new scoreboard location to ensure proper grounding and electrical safety compliance.

MILPITAS SPORTS CENTER
ELECTRICAL PLAN
Notes:
1. New scoreboards electrical loads are equal to or less than those of the existing boards being removed.
2. Over current protection, conduits and conductors from the panel to the new disconnects are existing to be re-used.
3. New disconnect shall be NEMA 3R (outdoor/rainproof) and shall be sized no smaller than the electrical load of the scoreboard.
4. Conductors shall be sized per CEC Table 310.16 and shall be listed for wet service.
5. Conduits shall be sized per CEC Chapter 9 Tables 4 & 5.
6. The load determination shall also consider Case B and Case C from ASCE 7-16 Figure 29.3-1. Case B required for all scoreboards, and Case C required for the 20’-0” W x 8’-6” H scoreboard (BA2014).
