About this file
This is an Exhibit B electrical plan document prepared for the City of Milpitas' Scoreboard Replacement Project, specifically detailing the electrical specifications for the Cardoza Park scoreboard installation. The project involves replacing an existing scoreboard with a new Daktronics BA2014 model (20'-0" W x 8'-6" H) and requires installation of a new NEMA 3R outdoor electrical disconnect, conduit, liquid-tight conduit, one ground rod, and a Christy box with approximately 5 feet of trench work. The work includes repairing exposed cable at the scoreboard base and connecting a Dak Score/MX-1 interface box to existing power in the equipment cage. The electrical panel is located behind the softball field. The plan specifies that new scoreboard electrical loads must equal or be less than existing boards being removed, with overcurrent protection, conduits, and conductors from the panel to new disconnects reused from existing infrastructure. The project has a mandatory pre-bid conference on May 22, 2025, with electronic bids due by June 17, 2025, at 12:00 pm Pacific Time, and a 75-calendar-day completion timeline from Notice to Proceed.
All electrical work must comply with California Electrical Code (CEC) standards, including sizing conductors per CEC Table 310.16 for wet service, sizing conduits per CEC Chapter 9 Tables 4 and 5, and considering wind load cases B and C from ASCE 7-16 for the large scoreboard. Contractors must possess C-45 and C-10 licensing classifications and perform at least 50% of work directly with subcontracting permitted up to 50%. Performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of contract value are required, and all work is subject to prevailing wage requirements. The City will purchase and provide all scoreboards, including necessary city building permits prior to work commencement. Bidders must verify site conditions during the mandatory pre-bid conference and maintain active California Secretary of State registration and City of Milpitas business licenses. A local purchasing preference is available for qualifying bidders within 10% of the lowest bid. No specific budget is stated in this exhibit, though the comprehensive nature of work across three locations with seven scoreboards indicates a significant municipal infrastructure investment.

3. New disconnect shall be NEMA 3R (outdoor/rainproof) and shall be sized no smaller than the electrical load of the scoreboard.
4. Conductors shall be sized per CEC Table 310.16 and shall be listed for wet service.
5. Conduits shall be sized per CEC Chapter 9 Tables 4 & 5.
6. The load determination shall also consider Case B and Case C from ASCE 7-16 Figure 29.3-1. Case C required for the 20’-0” W x 8’-6” H scoreboard (BA2014).
