Quayside Island Shoreline Stabilization Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida Contract: CN330 TA8-CO5

Subtask 11 – Geotechnical Investigations Description:

Subtask 11A – Geotechnical Investigations: Structural and zoning approvals are required to secure the DERM Class I permit, to complete Subtasks 4C and 7C of the Scope of Work.

To secure structural approvals from the Miami-Dade County Building Department, geotechnical investigations are required per Florida Building Code §1810.1.1. As the Miami- Dade County Building Department will not accept a test piling, supplemental budget and scope are required to perform a geotechnical investigation.

Two (2) Standard Penetration Tests (SPTs) to a depth of approximately 35 feet will be performed below sea water level, from a barge-mounted drill rig. Water depths will be confirmed by probing. Sunshine One Call will be contacted for advice regarding the location of underground utilities prior to commencement of field work. Cummins Cederberg or its subconsultants cannot be held responsible for damage to below ground structures or utilities which are not identified to us. We specifically request any available information about the location of underground utilities for this Project.

If the subsurface conditions encountered in the field are different from the typical conditions previously observed near the area, the geotechnical engineer will contact the Cummins Cederberg design engineer to discuss. Given the presence of existing timber piles in the area, the geotechnical engineer does not anticipate any changes in the subsurface conditions. All efforts will be made to collect required geotechnical data with one mobilization and two SPTs as scoped herein.

Deliverables:

Subtask 11A: Geotechnical Investigation Report, Signed/Sealed by a Florida Registered Professional Engineer, in PDF format.

Performance Measure: Deliverables will be reviewed by the Department to confirm they are complete, accurate, and timely.
