About this file

This is a federal specification section for chemical feed liquid systems covering metering pump equipment, accessories, and installation requirements for a water treatment facility.

The specification requires a single-source supply of a complete chemical feed system including mechanical diaphragm solenoid-drive metering pumps, system accessories, and liquid chemical storage and holding tanks. Pumps must be NSF 61 certified and accommodate RO Antiscalant (specific gravity 1.10±0.05, operating temperature 50-85°F) and Sodium Hypochlorite (specific gravity 1.01, operating temperature 50-85°F). For RO Antiscalant, acceptable pump models are PMP1002, PMP1003, PMP3102, and PMP3103 with 1 GPH capacity per head, 90 PSI maximum discharge pressure, and 72 SPM maximum stroke rate. For Sodium Hypochlorite, acceptable models include PMP1801, PMP1802, PMP3105, and PMP3106 (peristaltic alternative available) with capacities of 1-5 GPH, 30 PSI discharge pressure, and 120V/60Hz/1P electrical requirements. All pumps require materials compatible with the chemicals, including PVC or PVDF pump heads and valves, PTFE diaphragms, ABS cases, and FKM seals. The specification requires ON-OFF controls with 0-100% speed adjustment, over-pressure protection, no-flow alarms, and digital pump rate displays with owner-operable calibration procedures. Two stainless steel or fiberglass pump tables (27" H x 14" W x 21" L) must be provided, along with corporation cock main connections, PVC isolation ball and check valves, and drum suction apparatus with integral check valves and Hastelloy strainers. Spare parts must include O-rings, gaskets, diaphragms, and ball check sets for each pump. Submittals require shop drawings, chemical resistance data, complete performance specifications, and operation and maintenance manuals.
