About this file
This is a Demolition Plan for the Cow Creek facility located in Death Valley National Park. The plan outlines two primary demolition activities: the removal of an existing concrete irrigation valve vault and the eventual demolition of the existing Cow Creek Reverse Osmosis (RO) treatment building and water tank once a new RO treatment building is installed and service is switched over. Following demolition, the affected area is to be restored to natural grade.
The plan identifies specific construction requirements and coordination procedures for the contractor, including the reuse of all existing fire hydrants, removal and abandonment of existing water and sewer pipes encountered during water and sewer main installation, and the management of trench disturbance areas where asphalt, gravel, and topsoil will be removed and stockpiled. The contractor is permitted to submit alternative demolition plans for approval by the Contracting Officer, and all removals must be coordinated with the Contracting Officer. The existing RO treatment building must remain in service during construction to ensure continuity of operations. Additional details regarding contractor site use are referenced in Project Specification Section 011100, 1.4.
