About this file
This is a technical drawing sheet depicting a Temporary Water Plan for the Cow Creek Water System at Death Valley National Park. The plan is dated January 17, 2025, and was designed by L. Graef with technical review by M. Whelehon (Sheet G1.16, Drawing 318717).
The temporary water system is designed to maintain water service to all buildings during construction while the new water main is installed. Key components include: approximately 1,000 linear feet of bypass piping in areas where the proposed water main is closer than 3 feet to existing infrastructure, and approximately 2,300 linear feet of bypass piping along Skyline Road to serve the housing area. The plan identifies multiple tie-in points to existing water infrastructure, including connections to the RO treatment building, existing water tank, concrete irrigation valve vault, and water mains serving various facilities (Timbidina/Nevares Springs and Well Area, Coyote Loop Housing Area, Death Valley Elementary School, Simms Circle RV Area, and Salt Pan Vista RV Area). Supply wells must be shut off prior to tie-in connections, after which the system will temporarily utilize water stored in existing storage tanks. The contractor may submit alternative temporary water plans for contracting officer approval, must coordinate all connections to existing water mains with the contracting officer, maintain access to all areas with advance notice before temporary road shutdowns, and confine material and equipment storage to designated staging areas shown on Sheet G1.12. Excess trench spoil is to be hauled on-site to a designated mixing table south of the Cow Creek Administrative Area.

FOR APPROVAL BY THE CONTRACTING OFFICER.
2. CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING WATER MAINS ARE ARE TO BE COORDINATED WITH THE
CONTRACTING OFFICER.
3. THE CONTRACTOR MUST MAINTAIN ACCESS TO ALL AREAS. CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY
CONTRACTING OFFICER, OR HIS/HER REPRESENTATIVE, BEFORE TEMPORARY ROAD
SHUT-DOWNS.
4. STORAGE/STAGING AREAS: STORE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT WITHIN DESIGNATED
STORAGE/STAGING AREAS. BEFORE MOBILIZING, CONTRACTOR MUST COORDINATE WITH
THE CONTRACT OFFICER OR HIS/HER REPRESENTATIVE. SEE SHEET G1.12 FOR
